Regular Season Round 32: LG Sakers - Wonju DB 86-88

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Sakers (24-11) in Changwon on Wednesday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Wonju DB (23-13) 88-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sakers. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Wonju DB made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by LG Sakers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American center Henry Ellenson (208-1997, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import guard Ethan Alvano (185-1996, college: CSUSM) contributed with 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Alvano is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Egyptian center Assem Marei (206-1992, college: MSU) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 17 rebounds and 9 assists and international guard Ki-sang Yu (188-2001) added 26 points in the effort for LG Sakers. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Wonju DB moved-up to second place, which they share with Anyang. Defending champion LG Sakers still keep top position with 11 games lost. Wonju DB is looking forward to face Suwon KT (#5) in Busan in the next round. LG Sakers will play at home against Mobis Phoebus (#8) and are hoping to win this game.
